Partner Relationships are a Key Element for Success at Any Trade Show

July 16th, 2010 | By Nicole Genarella | Filed under "Blog"

Relationships make or break your business. When you build a relationship with someone, you see value with that party and feel they can be a key factor to your program or organizations success.

The same is true with relationships with your partners. Today production budgets are being cut but your clients still want to achieve the same if not more  success as the previous years. Key partners can help you achieve success in your tradeshow programming.

Here are my keys to partner relationships:

  • Develop a strategy: Focus upon what you feel will help grow your client’s business. Knowing what your client’s goals and objectives are, you can determine the right tools that can help you achieve them. Just because one of your partners has seen success with a particular product or service doesn’t mean it will work for your trade show program.
  • Negotiate: Today’s economy has helped create significant competition in the marketplace. This can provide tremendous value.
Remember, always let the partner make the first move when it comes to any product offering incentives or price reductions. If they really want your business, they may be willing to reduce their price.
  • Be proactive: There is nothing wrong with being hands-on in the production process. Developing clear manageble deadlines, communicating expectations, and working through potential issues early can help both parties ensure success and help build a meaningful business relationship.

Keep in mind, the partner you choose for business is an extension of your company or brand. If you mismanage this relationship, it can reflect poorly on your overall trade show program. In very simple terms, if you do not manage your partner like you would a staff member many issues can arise.

At the end of the day it comes down to effective communication. Clearly defining expectations should be a given from the start of the project. Your partners need to know what you expect from their product or service. Additionally, your partners need to know what is expected from you.

It is a relationship and you need to nurture that relationship for it to continue to grow.

What are your key tips for partner relationships? How have you established great relationships with your partners?

3D Exhibits and Accuray Earn 2012 Ex Award for Best Integrated Trade Show Campaign

May 7, 2012—Elk Grove Village, IL—3D Exhibits, an award winning exhibit and event design, fabrication and management agency, and its client Accuray, have won the 2012 Ex Award for Best Integrated Trade Show Campaign. The Ex Awards, sponsored annually by Event Marketer magazine, are the world’s largest recognition program for event marketing professionals.

Accuray and 3D Exhibits took home the Ex Award for Accuray’s comprehensive and integrated program at ASTRO2011. This program leveraged pre-show outreach, a micro-site that enticed registered attendees to pre-schedule product demos—and a presentation that transitioned visitors from high-level overview to in-depth product discussions. Dynamic exhibit architecture articulated Accuray’s stature as a single company with two powerful treatment solutions, while innovative re-purposing of components from two previous exhibits reduced fabrication costs by 25%.

The exhibit experience utilized a custom lead generation system created by 3D Exhibits that linked with the demonstration registration platform. An exit survey via 3D evaluAct measured the exhibit’s success in increasing visitors’ likelihood to recommend Accuray. “Integrating our demonstration registration with our lead generation enabled us to gain valuable insights into our customers and prospects,” says Celey Gaskill, director of marketing communications at Accuray.

3D Exhibits credits its win to the partnership it has forged with Accuray. “This project was a true collaboration. Accuray involves us beyond exhibit design. Their trust enabled us to work beyond architecture to create this thorough, integrated approach,” says Nicole Genarella, vice president of marketing, 3D Exhibits.
